A Yaya Toure masterclass at Selhurst Park in April 2014 proved to be the decisive moment in Manchester City's Premier League title race with Liverpool, as Manuel Pellegrini's side won 2-0 to seize control of the championship.
City entered the Crystal Palace fixture under pressure, with Tony Pulis's side having won their previous five matches to climb clear of a relegation battle. Liverpool, meanwhile, suffered a shock 2-0 home defeat to a rotated Chelsea side, handing City the advantage they needed.
Toure, returning from a thigh injury that had kept him out of two matches, was the game's dominant figure. His cross in the fourth minute found Edin Dzeko, whose header gave City an early lead — the striker's 24th goal of the season.
The Ivorian then capped a first-half display with a trademark individual goal, exchanging passes with Samir Nasri before driving forward, holding off Damien Delaney and curling the ball into the net.
Joe Hart preserved the clean sheet with a save from Jason Puncheon, and City claimed a crucial three points that tilted the title race firmly in their favour.
