Aston Villa recorded their biggest-ever European victory on Wednesday, routing Fenerbahçe 6-0 at Villa Park in the UEFA Champions League Matchday Two.
Johan Manzambi, celebrating his 21st birthday, opened the scoring in the 12th minute when his shot deflected past Ederson off Milan Skriniar. Nicolas Jackson then struck twice in eight minutes to give Villa a commanding 3-0 lead at half-time, taking his tally to four goals in his last three games.
Ross Barkley drove the rout in the second half, scoring his first brace in a Villa shirt. The second of the pair came after Manzambi was felled in the box by İsmail Yüksek; Barkley stepped up to convert the penalty and coolly sent the goalkeeper the wrong way.
Tammy Abraham added the sixth in the closing minutes, tapping home from Alysson's cross to seal the record scoreline. Substitute Leon Goretzka also made his Villa debut during the final stages.
The result extends Villa's run to 11 consecutive European home victories and keeps them on course after a winning start to the Champions League league phase. Their next home game in the competition is against Viking FK in a week's time.
