James Tarkowski lauded centre-back partner Jarrad Branthwaite as "amazing" after Everton claimed a 0-0 draw at Tottenham Hotspur, keeping a clean sheet in all four Premier League games so far this season.

The defensive pair made their 82nd appearance together, with Tarkowski highlighting Branthwaite's return to form following a difficult 2023-24 campaign disrupted by hamstring injuries that required surgery.

"Jazz is an amazing partner to have next to you. He's as strong as an ox, rapid, brilliant on the ball, two footed and communicates really well," Tarkowski told Sky Sports after the match. "Last year it was difficult for him. He didn't play many games and missed a lot of football, but he's come back fit and flying."

On the draw itself, Tarkowski acknowledged Tottenham's strong start but felt Everton grew into the game. "It was tough early on, very tough. I thought they started really well and made it really difficult for us, but we stuck in there," he said. "As the game went on, we sort of grew into the game and then made a couple of chances where I feel like we could have taken three points."

Tarkowski noted that despite Tottenham's goalless run, the hosts remain a dangerous side. "If you look at their players and their team, and even the subs that they brought on, they're a top, top side," he said.

Everton had opportunities to win, with Tarkowski recalling chances for Kiernan and a header from Barry, but were unable to convert. The club next face a cup fixture before hosting Ipswich at home.

Tarkowski also addressed his new status as Everton's senior player following the departures of Ashley Young, Seamus Coleman, and Idrissa Gana Gueye. "That's me now. I'm the oldest one, which is quite concerning, to be honest," he said. "But I still feel young at heart."
