Manchester City have confirmed the squad numbers for four players ahead of the 2026/27 season, with new signing Elliot Anderson taking the No.5 shirt vacated by departing defender John Stones.

Stones, a club legend who spent 10 years at City and won 20 trophies, left the Blues this past summer. Anderson steps into a number previously worn by notable City figures including Pablo Zabaleta, Sylvain Distin and Andy Morrison.

Marc Guéhi has been assigned No.6, the same number he wore throughout his five-year spell at Crystal Palace before joining City in January 2026. Guéhi had worn No.15 during the club's Carabao Cup and FA Cup-winning 2025/26 campaign and now takes the number left free by Nathan Ake.

Gianluigi Donnarumma will wear the No.1 shirt, previously held by James Trafford, who departed permanently for Leeds last week. The Italy international wore No.25 last season but carries No.1 for his national team and held it during his final season at PSG, when he won Ligue 1, the Coupe de France, the Trophée des Champions and the UEFA Champions League.

Incoming goalkeeper Gerónimo Rulli, who signed for the club on August 12, takes No.28 — a number he first wore at Club Estudiantes de La Plata early in his career.
