Liverpool drew 0-0 with Como 1907 in the first of two pre-season fixtures on Sunday, played behind closed doors at the AXA Training Centre in Kirkby.
The match was split into two 35-minute halves, with genuine chances scarce throughout. Alexis Mac Allister made his first pre-season appearance after returning to club duty earlier in the week.
Victor Munoz created the first half-chance after three minutes, weaving past Ivan Smolcic on the left before crossing for Trey Nyoni, who glanced the ball wide. Como's Assane Diao posed the most consistent threat down the left, though he wasted the visitors' clearest opportunity by miscuing a finish inside the Liverpool area from a Smolcic cut-back.
Early in the second period, Federico Chiesa met a Munoz lofted ball with a near-post header that was saved. Liverpool's best opening fell to Lewis Koumas just before the hour, after he pressured Riccardo Cassano into losing possession, but his left-footed effort drifted wide.
Mac Allister was withdrawn by head coach Andoni Iraola after 59 minutes. In the final moments, a block by Smolcic denied substitute Will Wright a shot from 12 yards before the final whistle.
The two sides are scheduled to meet again at Anfield later in pre-season.
