Liverpool eliminated Tottenham Hotspur from the Carabao Cup with a 3-1 win at Anfield on Tuesday night, advancing to the fourth round of the competition.

Goals from Alexis Mac Allister, Cody Gakpo and substitute Dominik Szoboszlai secured the victory for the Reds. Conor Gallagher pulled one back for Roberto De Zerbi's side, but Spurs were knocked out in the third round.

"I think it was a good performance from our side," said Gakpo after the match. "The young guys put in a lot of energy, which is required at this level. I think they've shown it in training every day and they've shown it in a game as well. I think all of them can be very proud of themselves."

Gakpo also highlighted the importance of Szoboszlai's third goal, which came with Liverpool under pressure. "We needed that and I think everybody knows Dom's shot. He showed it again today. It was a good goal. We were under pressure, but even though we were under pressure, we were not nervous."

Lewis Koumas, one of the younger players involved, said the team followed instructions from head coach Andoni Iraola. "It was just to put all the things we're trying to learn in training into the game. I thought we did it quite well today."

Koumas also paid tribute to Szoboszlai's strike. "It's scary. Not many people hit a ball like Dom. It's just top quality."

Liverpool's win came at Anfield in the third round of the Carabao Cup, with De Zerbi's Tottenham side unable to progress in the competition.
