Chelsea's attacking trio of Joao Pedro, Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers has produced ten goals and ten assists across the first six Premier League games of the season, with the club scoring 18 goals in that span.
Joao Pedro, operating as the central striker, has credited the combination of his two teammates as a key factor behind his own form, after registering a goal and an assist in each of Chelsea's games against Fulham, Brighton and Hull.
"Cole can score, he can pass, he can score from free-kicks, he can do everything," said Joao Pedro. "He's a different player. That's what makes him special. I just have to be ready when he gets the ball. I need to be in the right position to make the run, because he's going to make a brilliant pass, so I have to be ready to score."
The Brazilian drew a clear distinction between how he links with each of his attacking partners. "With Cole, I try to always give the ball to his feet. With Morgan it's more to the space, or to let him in a one-v-one situation. And my job is just to run, and then they're going to find me."
On Rogers, Joao Pedro added: "Morgan is a very skilful player. We can see he can dribble past two, three guys, and carry the ball. That's what we expect from him, and I think he has started very well."
Joao Pedro also noted the trio's off-pitch chemistry as a factor in their on-field understanding, and joked about the logic behind his role. "Imagine if I try to play as a number ten, I need to fight positions with Cole Palmer! So it's better if I stay as a nine."
Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has urged the squad to stay focused regardless of circumstances, a message Joao Pedro says is behind the team's early scoring volume. "Xabi tells us always, it doesn't matter what happens, you just need to be focused and be connected to the game and you're going to score," said the striker.
Chelsea's next fixture is away at Brentford before the international break, during which Joao Pedro is set to represent Brazil.
