Erling Haaland scored the only goal as Manchester City beat Manchester United 1-0 at Old Trafford on Saturday, picking up a fourth consecutive Premier League win to open the season.
City played more than half the match with ten men after Phil Foden was shown a straight red card by referee Michael Oliver for violent conduct towards United captain Bruno Fernandes in the 23rd minute.
United came close to taking advantage before half-time, with Marcus Rashford's free-kick clipping the outside of the post. After the interval, Kobbie Mainoo's curling strike also hit the woodwork before being gathered by City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Haaland broke the deadlock on the hour mark, turning home a deflected cross from Josko Gvardiol at the back post. The goal was initially ruled out for offside before a lengthy VAR review confirmed it.
Enzo Fernández almost doubled the lead shortly after, but his effort was touched onto the post by United goalkeeper Senne Lammens. City held firm to secure all three points.
The result gave City four wins from their opening four Premier League fixtures for the seventh time, with Haaland now netting nine goals in eight Premier League appearances against United.
