Jeremy Doku became the youngest player in Premier League history to register five goal involvements in a single game during Manchester City's 6-1 demolition of Bournemouth in November 2023, a performance that also saw him set a second age-related record on the same afternoon.
The Belgian winger, then aged 21 years and 161 days, scored once and provided four assists at the Etihad Stadium — making him simultaneously the youngest player to assist four goals in a single Premier League game.
Doku opened the scoring on the half-hour mark with a curling strike after a one-two with Rodri. He then set up Bernardo Silva twice, assisted Phil Foden, and rounded off the afternoon when a shot deflected in off Manuel Akanji to complete his four-assist haul.
The display marked only the eighth occasion in Premier League history that a player had contributed four assists in a single game, and the first time a City player had done so.
Manager Pep Guardiola was unequivocal in his assessment of the winger's display. "He's not just one against one and one against two. He surprised all of us — he's a great footballer. He reads every action for exactly what he has to do," Guardiola said.
"Go, dribble and go because it's difficult to find a player today with the ability to play in small spaces and he is one of the fastest players over five metres," the then City boss added. "It's incredible how he changes the rhythm in five metres. After that when he's not able to dribble, he takes good decisions and I'm impressed by that. That's why for me he's a great, great footballer."
Doku had joined City from Stade Rennais a couple of months before the Bournemouth fixture, arriving with a reputation built on his dribbling ability and pace. The November performance underlined why City had moved to sign him.
City's win also returned them to the top of the Premier League table on the day.
