Tottenham Hotspur manager Roberto De Zerbi called for improved decision-making in the final third after his side were held to a goalless draw by Everton in the Premier League at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.
Spurs made a strong opening half-hour but failed to convert their chances, finishing the match with 14 attempts at goal. Jordan Pickford was seriously tested only once — a low save to his left to deny Lucas Bergvall's shot from 20 yards in the second half.
"We are sorry for the result. We are sorry because the target was to play 90 minutes like the first 30 minutes, but we are not in the best physical condition yet," De Zerbi said.
"We didn't shoot and we didn't create enough chances for the quality of the play, the command of the game we had on the pitch. We made many wrong decisions in the last third and we have to stay more focused, more calm."
De Zerbi acknowledged that failing to score could affect confidence but urged his players to stay process-focused. "Maybe some players could think in a negative way, but I think no, because we have to be focused on the performance," he said.
"If we keep the same quality of the play and if we improve the last decision — individual decision, collective decision, but more individual — I think we're going to win many, many games."
