Chelsea will find out their first Carabao Cup opponents of the season on Monday 10 August, as Xabi Alonso's side enter the competition at the second-round stage.

The draw takes place during the build-up to the Plymouth Argyle vs Exeter City first-round tie and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Football in the UK. Chelsea have been assigned ball number seven.

Eleven Premier League clubs not involved in European competition join the first-round winners at this stage. The draw is split into northern and southern sections, meaning Chelsea can only be paired with teams from the southern half.

Teams in the draw include Brentford, Fulham, Newcastle United, Everton, Leeds United, Nottingham Forest, Tottenham Hotspur, Coventry City, Ipswich Town, Hull City, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and the winner of Plymouth Argyle vs Exeter City, among others.

Second-round ties are scheduled for the week commencing Monday 24 August.

Chelsea are seeking the competition for the sixth time in the club's history, having previously won it in 1965 and most recently in 2015.
