Chelsea completed their first day in Hong Kong on Monday, with Xabi Alonso resuming training and six players joining the squad for the second week of the summer tour.
The club arrived late Sunday evening in Asia for the second stop of their pre-season schedule, which includes a match against Juventus on Wednesday.
Among the six arrivals were goalkeepers Mike Penders and Gabriel Slonina, Portuguese pair Geovany Quenda and Pedro Neto, and Mykhailo Mudryk, who has returned to training. New signing Danny Welbeck also linked up with the squad. Both Penders and Neto featured for their respective national sides at this summer’s World Cup.
Mudryk and Welbeck were immediately involved in the evening training session, held in hot and humid conditions at the club’s Hong Kong base.
Earlier in the day, Cole Palmer, Jamie Gittens, Estevao Willian and Moises Caicedo attended a Nike Store event at Pacific Place Mall, taking part in a Q&A with young local footballers and signing shirts.
A separate group — Levi Colwill, Ted Curd, Liam Delap, Omari Kellyman, Dastan Satpayev and Teddy Sharman-Lowe — visited Ocean Park, where they interacted with penguins and viewed the park’s giant pandas.
Aaron Anselmino, Wesley Fofana, Nicolas Jackson and Mamadou Sarr supported a soccer schools session, while manager Xabi Alonso hosted a meet and greet at the team hotel alongside Josh Acheampong, Dario Essugo, Jorrel Hato, Marco Palestra and Joao Pedro.
Pre-match press conferences ahead of the Juventus fixture are scheduled for Tuesday.
