James Tarkowski scored an injury-time equaliser to earn Everton a 1-1 draw at Bournemouth, denying the hosts all three points after the visitors had been the better side for much of the match.

Everton created the clearer chances in the first half, with Jarrad Branthwaite and Thierno Barry both going close, but fell behind when Alex Scott's deflected 41st-minute shot — redirected off Vitalii Mykolenko — beat Jordan Pickford.

David Moyes' side continued to press and were rewarded deep in added time. Hayden Hackney's cleared corner fell to Tarkowski, who smashed a low finish beyond Dorde Petrovic to spark celebrations among the travelling support.

Bournemouth had grown into the game after the break and forced crucial blocks from substitute Hackney and Mykolenko before the equaliser arrived. Petrovic had also kept the scores level earlier with a reaction save to deny Branthwaite and a point-blank stop to block Barry's follow-up.

The draw extends Everton's unbeaten start to the season. Moyes' men opened with a 2-0 home win over Crystal Palace and followed that with a 4-0 Carabao Cup victory at Preston North End in midweek. James Garner returned to the midfield as the only change from the Palace fixture.
