Liverpool defender Milos Kerkez has called for an immediate bounce-back after the club suffered their first defeat under manager Andoni Iraola, a 3-0 home loss to Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Reds face Austrian side LASK away on Wednesday evening in matchday two of the Champions League, giving them an early chance to respond.

"We need to win games, this club needs to win games, so we need to do that," Kerkez told Stadium Astro.

City's three goals all came after Ryan Gravenberch was shown a red card in the 62nd minute, reducing Liverpool to 10 men. Kerkez said the match was level and competitive until that moment.

"The game was on, it was 0-0 and we pushed them," Kerkez said. "It was just moments, 'Who's going to score first?' But at the end of the day, it's football. We got the red and after that they kept the ball a lot and they're really good on the ball, so it was tough."

Kerkez acknowledged Liverpool performed well for long stretches, particularly in the first half and the early stages of the second. "I think we did well in the first half. We pushed a lot and also when we had situations to defend, I think we defended really well," he said.

"After that, this second yellow and it's tough to play against them with one man less," Kerkez added, reflecting on Gravenberch's dismissal.
