Dominic Solanke scored a stoppage-time header to earn Tottenham a draw at Old Trafford on Sunday, converting Sandro Tonali's cross in the second minute of added time.
Spurs had dominated for long periods but were reduced to 10 men in the 78th minute after Manchester United took the lead six minutes earlier. Solanke won a physical duel with Lisandro Martinez to glance the equaliser home.
"It was so good," Solanke said. "It was a bit of relief and enjoyment as well. I missed a few chances, could have had probably three goals, so I really wanted to get on the end of one. It wasn't a bad time to do it."
The striker acknowledged Tottenham's lack of clinical finishing had almost cost them. "I think we probably should have been a few goals up going into half-time," he said. "We played so well in the first half, dominated the game and just wasn't clinical enough."
Solanke pointed to the significance of the result given the circumstances. "The character we showed after going a goal down and a man down was magnificent from everyone," he said. "There have been times when we go a goal down and we don't react in the right way. So today, going a goal down away from home with 10 men and still managing to get something from the game was great. That mentality is definitely something we can build on."
Manager Roberto De Zerbi had suggested that going a man down inspired the team to find another gear, and Solanke's late intervention ultimately justified that assessment.
