Aston Villa midfielder Emi Buendía has called on supporters to savour Wednesday's UEFA Champions League home clash against Fenerbahçe, describing it as a "present" for the club's fanbase.
Villa Park hosts European football for the first time this season when Unai Emery's side welcome the Turkish club on Wednesday with kick-off at 8pm.
"I think the greatest competition at club level. Back at Villa Park, we had experience two years ago," Buendía told VillaTV. "We worked to be back last season, so now it's also like a present for our fans, our supporters. Hopefully, we can enjoy together a great night, and enjoy this moment."
The 29-year-old also addressed the altered atmosphere at Villa Park, where ongoing redevelopment work means only three stands will be open for the fixture.
Buendía insisted the reduced capacity would not dampen the occasion, pointing to the Holte End as a constant source of momentum. "It's a lot different, of course, because we felt always the crowd behind us, but it's an improvement for the club," he said. "We have The Holte End always pushing for us, so we're very happy with the rest of the fans, because they are Aston Villa."
