Joško Gvardiol has committed his future to Manchester City, signing a new five-year contract after three seasons at the club. The 24-year-old Croatian defender joined City from RB Leipzig in August 2023.
Since his arrival, Gvardiol has won six major honours — the Premier League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, Community Shield, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.
"Being here, being surrounded by all these great names, players and characters, seeing them every day, training and pushing harder and harder, we achieved a lot of things together," Gvardiol said. "My only wish is that we continue that way."
"This is the right club for me and my family as well. I have everything I need here and I've said it many times, I really like it here in Manchester," he added.
Gvardiol singled out the Premier League title as his most prized honour. "I would say my favourite one and the most difficult one to win is the Premier League, especially because in my first season I gave an interview and said that only a few Croatians have won the Premier League. I did it in my first season somehow and that's my favourite one."
The contract extension comes as City begin a new era under manager Enzo Maresca, following Pep Guardiola's ten-year, 20-trophy tenure. Gvardiol acknowledged he still has room to develop despite his achievements. "I'm only 24, I have enough time," he said.
