Everton without Garner and Mykolenko for pre-season opener against Dundee

Everton have confirmed several absentees from their matchday squad for Wednesday's pre-season fixture against Dundee at Dens Park.

Defender Jarrad Branthwaite, who sustained a hamstring injury late last season, has trained with the squad throughout the week and is continuing to make positive progress.

Summer signing Hayden Hackney has been integrated into squad training, with that process set to continue next week as planned.

Fellow midfielder James Garner will miss the match after experiencing groin discomfort following his return to training. His condition is due to be reviewed next week.

Left-back Vitalii Mykolenko has returned home for the birth of his second child and will rejoin the squad in due course.
