Chelsea goalkeeper Femke Liefting will spend the 2026/27 season on loan at Ajax. The move returns the Dutch stopper to her home country to continue her development.
Liefting signed for Chelsea in January 2025 on a three-and-a-half-year deal, joining from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar.
Her debut campaign at the club was disrupted before it began when she suffered a foot injury without making an appearance. After recovering, she joined WSL 2 side Newcastle United on loan for the 2025/26 season, making seven starts before a hip injury in November ended her campaign early.
On the international stage, Liefting represented the Netherlands at the Under-17 and Under-19 European Championships and featured at the Under-20 World Cup in Colombia in the summer of 2024. She had earned two senior international call-ups and made over 50 Dutch league appearances prior to her move to Chelsea.
