Moises Caicedo says he wants to become a legend at Chelsea after extending his contract with the club earlier this year. The Ecuadorian midfielder made the comments during Chelsea's pre-season tour in Hong Kong, where the Blues are set to face Juventus at Kai Tak Stadium.
'The club wanted to renew the contract and I said yes because I want to become a legend here,' Caicedo said. 'That is why I renewed my contract and for all of us, it's important.'
Caicedo joined the Hong Kong leg of the tour after missing most of the Australia fixtures, and is working to build fitness ahead of the new Premier League season under manager Xabi Alonso. He is expected to feature against Juventus.
The 24-year-old also paid tribute to Chelsea's Asian supporters, saying the level of backing from fans in the region had made a strong impression on the squad.
'The people here have been great,' Caicedo said. 'We feel like we are at home. Everyone here has been very kind. It's my first time here in Hong Kong and I feel it's like a home to me already. So for that, I want to say thank you to the fans.'
Caicedo added that the supporters' commitment despite the time difference for Premier League matches was not lost on the players. 'The way they support us with the time difference is incredible, it is not easy for them to watch in the Premier League. So we really appreciate them, because we feel and realise that the supporters here give everything for us.'
