Moises Caicedo singled out Danny Welbeck as the first team-mate he sought when Chelsea's squad assembled in Hong Kong this week, underlining the warmth of their reunion after Welbeck's move from Brighton.

"I'm so happy he's signed," Caicedo told reporters at a press conference in Hong Kong. "When he arrived here, I gave him a hug because I was so happy when he signed. He is going to be so important for us and I'm looking forward to playing with him again."

The two previously shared a dressing room at Brighton's Amex Stadium, where Welbeck played a significant role in Caicedo's early adaptation to English football. "As a player and as a person, Danny is top. He helped me a lot when I arrived at Brighton. He was so important for me and to have him here at Chelsea, it feels good," Caicedo said.

Welbeck's arrival was swiftly followed by the signing of Jordan Henderson from Brentford, adding further Premier League and international experience to Chelsea's squad.

Caicedo, a Premier League winner himself, welcomed both additions with equal enthusiasm. "I'm so happy to have them at the club because it's going to help the younger players with their experience," he said. "For sure we are going to achieve a lot of things together."
