Elliot Anderson said Rayan Cherki's stunning brace in Manchester City's 4-1 win at Crystal Palace on Friday came as no surprise, having witnessed the Frenchman's ability up close in daily training sessions.

Anderson, making only his second league start for City since joining from Nottingham Forest this summer, delivered a composed all-round performance at Selhurst Park. The bigger attention, however, fell on Cherki, whose dazzling second-half display included a balletic solo dribble before a finishing display that drew wide acclaim.

"I see this every day since I joined, him and Phil have such talent and it's no surprise to be honest," Anderson said. "So much talent and I'm so happy to be playing with them and not against them. The talent they have is scary."

Anderson also reflected on his own growing comfort in City's system under Enzo Maresca, describing a gradual process of adaptation after returning from England's World Cup finals duty.

"I'm loving it. It's a little bit different so I'm trying to grasp the little differences so I can settle in well," he said. "I'm always nervous when I go on the pitch. My first outing at the Etihad was pretty special and two wins from two, so I'm happy."

The 4-1 victory at Palace continued City's strong start to the season. Anderson noted the squad's youth, pointing out that the average age in the previous match was 25, and described the project as an exciting one.

"Eras come to an end, and a new one is starting," Anderson said. "I've got to be a little more structured. That's what I'm learning. Trying to learn on the job."
