Nicolas Jackson is determined to keep his recent form going when Aston Villa host Fulham on Saturday. The Senegalese striker scored twice in a 2-1 Premier League win over Manchester City last weekend.
Jackson has scored seven times in 11 games since his summer move from Chelsea, and he wants more for himself and the team. “Hopefully, there’s more to come and I’ll score more goals,” he said.
“I’m just trying to play in my best level, helping the team defend and to score as well. The most important thing is that the team win – that’s the biggest thing for me.”
Jackson also reflected on a difficult start to the season. “We had a lot of new players and everything else. We’re just trying to build and to work together, keeping focused game-by-game.”
The 25-year-old has fitted well into Unai Emery’s side, leading the line with pace and skill while also showing a ruthless streak in front of goal. Villa are ninth in the Premier League with 11 points from eight games.
Fulham visit on Saturday, and Jackson knows three points will not come easily against an improving opponent. “It’s a very important game,” he said. “They’re good opponents, a good team. Every game is important to us, so we’ll see how it goes against Fulham.”
