David Moyes said he demands more from his Everton players after they fell to a 2-0 defeat at Arsenal on Saturday, though the manager pointed to encouraging signs in the second half.

Ezri Konsa opened the scoring early for the Premier League champions, and Gabriel added a second after the break to seal the result for Mikel Arteta's side.

"I thought there were better bits in the second half than in the first. We pressed them and got after it," Moyes told evertontv. "We unfortunately lost a goal when we were certainly back in the game at 1-0."

Moyes acknowledged the early setback made life difficult but was critical of the lapse that led to the second goal. "Obviously, the goal after five or six minutes wasn't easy. And for the second one, I think a couple of people turned off for that action."

The Everton manager was also candid about his side's limited threat going forward. "I want more chances. Obviously, we're playing against a really strong opposition. We might not get three, four, five, six chances, but we have to try to take them when we get them."

The defeat leaves Everton with 10 points from eight Premier League matches, sitting ninth in the table after back-to-back losses.
