Brighton & Hove Albion staged a remarkable comeback after conceding within the opening minutes, eventually dismantling Crystal Palace 5-0 in a scoreline that told a story of swift recovery and relentless attacking intent.

The afternoon began about as badly as it could for the hosts. An own goal in the 4th minute handed Crystal Palace a shock lead before Brighton had even found their footing. What followed, however, was a response that defined the entire contest.

Brighton levelled within 3 minutes. A goal in the 7th minute drew the Seagulls level, and any lingering anxiety was swept aside when a second goal arrived in the 10th minute to put Brighton ahead. Six minutes of football had produced 3 goals, and the tone of the match had shifted entirely. The side that had trailed was now in front, and Palace never found a way back.

The first half settled after that frenetic opening. Brighton picked up a yellow card in the 29th minute, though the caution did little to disrupt their rhythm going into the interval.

The second half reinforced the gulf between the sides. Brighton extended their lead with a third goal in the 49th minute, just after Crystal Palace had introduced a substitute at the break. Palace were booked in the 51st minute and made further changes at 53 and 61 minutes, cycling through their options in search of a foothold they never established. Brighton, meanwhile, brought on their own fresh legs at 61, 71, and 81 minutes, managing the game with authority.

A fourth goal arrived in the 84th minute, sealing the victory in emphatic fashion. By the time a final substitute entered for Brighton in the 90th minute, the 5-0 scoreline was firmly confirmed.

Six Brighton players made it onto the standouts sheet, which underlines how broadly the performance was distributed. 4 of those players either scored or assisted directly. One player registered 1 goal and 4 shots, contributing throughout the match rather than simply taking a single opportunity. Another standout recorded 1 goal and 1 assist from 4 shots, combining industry with end product. A further player chipped in with 1 goal from 1 shot, the kind of clinical contribution that compounds pressure on a struggling defence.

Two players each registered 1 assist without scoring, demonstrating that Brighton's creativity was spread across the pitch rather than concentrated in a single source. A fifth player added 3 shots and 1 assist, pressing Palace without pause.

The own goal that started proceedings felt, in hindsight, like a momentary inconvenience rather than a genuine threat. Brighton's ability to respond twice inside 10 minutes reframed the entire match. From the 7th minute onward, Crystal Palace were chasing a game they were never equipped to win on the day, and a 5-0 final score left little room for interpretation.
