Man City reach 150th Champions League game vs AEK Athens

Manchester City will play their 150th Champions League match when they host AEK Athens on Tuesday, a milestone that arrives 15 years after the club first qualified for the competition under Roberto Mancini in 2011.
The run represents the longest unbroken sequence of Champions League appearances by any English club, spanning the Mancini, Manuel Pellegrini and Pep Guardiola eras — a period in which City have won the Premier League more times than every other club combined.
For much of that stretch, European success proved elusive despite domestic dominance. Twice City were eliminated in the group stage in their first two seasons, and knockout exits at the hands of Barcelona, Liverpool, Lyon and Real Madrid followed in subsequent years.
Bernardo Silva, who departed the club in the summer as joint-most decorated player in its history, reflected on the gap between quality and results.
