Noni Madueke's deflected strike 10 minutes from time gave Arsenal a 1-0 win at Nottingham Forest on Saturday, moving the visitors to six wins from seven Premier League matches.
Neither side registered a shot on target in a goalless first half, with Forest's compact defensive shape limiting Arsenal's threat despite the visitors dominating early possession.
Arteta introduced Madueke at half-time for Eberechi Eze, and the England winger proved the difference. Declan Rice spread the ball out to Madueke on the left, he cut inside and fired goalwards, with a deflection off Jair Cunha sending the ball past Matz Sels.
Forest came close to salvaging a point in a frantic finale. Chris Wood was denied by Rice's recovery block, Murilo curled just over, and Liam Delap was clean through on goal before Ezri Konsa made a crucial sliding challenge to preserve the clean sheet.
Jurrien Timber came off the bench to make his 100th Arsenal appearance, while Viktor Gyokeres and Mikel Merino also featured as Arteta looked to close out the game.
Arsenal sit second in the Premier League table with 18 points. They travel to Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday before hosting Everton the following Saturday.
