Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola confirmed that Dominik Szoboszlai and Jeremie Frimpong will both miss time after picking up injuries during the Reds' 2-1 win at Brentford on Saturday.

Szoboszlai was withdrawn after just 32 minutes at Gtech Community Stadium. The Hungarian midfielder had already missed Liverpool's previous two matches with a fitness problem, and Iraola confirmed the issue had recurred.

Frimpong was brought on at half-time but lasted only minutes before being replaced, with Victor Munoz shifting to right-back to cover the position.

Iraola pointed to a congested schedule as context for both setbacks. "I think we have a very delicate situation. We were coming from playing Champions League away two days ago, we arrived [home] late at night and probably with not a proper recovery," he said in his post-match press conference.

"You are in doubt between the players that have already started two games and are very tired, or the players that are recovering from injuries but you're probably not 100 per cent certain."

The manager drew a distinction between the two cases. "Dom felt the same injury, it's not a new injury and was probably not healed enough, so we will need more time with him. Jeremie's was new, I think he finished cramping the other day [against LASK]," Iraola said.

He added that he had opted to introduce Frimpong after Brentford were reduced to ten men, believing the winger could offer more going forward than the alternative. Iraola praised Munoz's performance as an emergency right-back before confirming the prognosis: "It will mean we will lose Dom and Jeremie for some time, yes."
