De Zerbi shortlisted for Premier League Manager of the Month

Tottenham head coach Roberto De Zerbi has been shortlisted for the Premier League Manager of the Month award for October, the club announced.

The Italian was nominated for the first time as Tottenham's head coach after a month that began without a league win. An unbeaten October, featuring one draw and three successive victories, turned the team's form around and lifted it into the top half of the table with 10 points from a possible 12.

Tottenham opened the month with a 1-1 draw at Manchester United, where Dominic Solanke's stoppage-time leveller salvaged a late point after the side had gone a goal and a man down. Their first win followed in a 3-1 home victory over Coventry City, with goals from James Maddison, Omar Marmoush and Ben Davies, and a return from Dejan Kulusevski. The result came after a training camp in Marbella, Spain.

The momentum carried into a trip to Chelsea, where a Mike Penders own goal and a solo effort from Mathys Tel secured a 2-0 win, only Tottenham's second victory at Stamford Bridge in 36 years.

A dominant display then saw off 10-man Crystal Palace 2-0, with set-piece goals from Archie Gray and Jan Paul van Hecke.

De Zerbi is up against five other managers for October's award. The vote closes at 12 noon on Monday 9 November.
