Arteta gives injury update ahead of Leeds clash

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided a fitness update on five players ahead of Saturday's Premier League match against Leeds United, with Christos Tzolis confirmed as unavailable for the coming weeks.

Tzolis picked up a muscle injury as a substitute in Greece's draw with the Netherlands during the international break. "Tzolis has a muscle injury and he's going to be out I think for a few weeks. He's not available yet," Arteta said at his pre-match press conference.

Kai Havertz and Ezri Konsa are both doubts but could feature against Leeds. Havertz was withdrawn early in Germany's opening match against the Netherlands, while Konsa missed England's final group game against the Czech Republic on Tuesday. "With Kai because he had a muscular injury, I spoke to Jurgen [Klopp] and immediately they sent the player back, as is normal," Arteta said.

Declan Rice sat out the entire international break on the manager's orders. Arteta cited a shorter-than-usual summer and accumulated fatigue following the World Cup as reasons for the precautionary rest. "We have to manage him because he's had a few issues since he's come back from the World Cup. We know the amount of games he's played in the last three years. It was the sensible thing to do, and hopefully tomorrow he's available."

Ben White returns to contention after missing the Brighton fixture with a groin problem sustained in the win over Sunderland last month. Defenders Piero Hincapie and Cristhian Mosquera are also back to full fitness following swift recoveries. "They did incredibly well to be available for the Brighton game," Arteta said of the pair.

Sixteen-year-old Max Dowman, who featured in all three of England under-19s' matches during the break against the Republic of Ireland, Norway and the United States, was forced to withdraw from the squad last weekend but Arteta confirmed the youngster is available if required.
