Beto: Dundee win can give Everton competitive edge in pre-season

Everton striker Beto says the club's 4-0 pre-season win at Dundee can give the squad "a competitive edge" heading into the new season. The result was Everton's opening fixture of the summer schedule.

Beto opened the scoring against the Scottish Premiership side on Saturday. Second-half goals from Thierno Barry, Under-21s midfielder Harvey Foster, and Dwight McNeil completed the rout.

The 28-year-old said goals for himself and Barry could boost confidence among the forwards as David Moyes' side prepare for their next pre-season fixture at Bolton Wanderers next weekend.

Beto also reflected on a demanding training camp in St Andrews during the week, and praised Everton supporters, describing loyal Evertonians as "not normal."
