Kieran Morrison scored his first senior goal for Liverpool in a 4-2 friendly victory over Sunderland on Saturday at GEODIS Park in Nashville, part of the club's pre-season tour of the United States ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

"Definitely, especially under the new manager. The first goal in pre-season feels very good and I'm proud," Morrison said after the match.

The youngster opened the scoring with what he described as an instinctive finish, assisted by Harvey Elliott. "I just got the ball and I didn't really think about it," Morrison said. "It's just instinct, you just do it. And Harvey, top player!"

Morrison credited new head coach Andoni Iraola, who took charge this summer, for introducing new tactical concepts during the Chicago-based training camp. "It's like a new philosophy this past week. Whatever he's been doing at Bournemouth, it's obviously worked. He's one of the best managers in the league. He's telling me things I've never heard of before."

The 2025-26 season brought limited minutes for Morrison, who made two appearances and spent much of the campaign on the bench. He is targeting more involvement in the coming season. "I want to play as many minutes as I can. I want to score at Anfield," he said.

Morrison acknowledged competition for places on the right wing and said he is focused on making himself an option for Iraola. He cited senior players Dominik Szoboszlai and Federico Chiesa as sources of inspiration, pointing to their work ethic in training as a benchmark for younger squad members.
