Liverpool have touched down in Chicago as the club begins its 2026 pre-season tour of the United States, marking the team's first visit to the city since 2014. A 31-player squad boarded their flight from John Lennon Airport on Monday afternoon for the roughly eight-hour transatlantic crossing.
Manager Andoni Iraola is scheduled to address the media at a press conference on Tuesday, ahead of the squad's first on-pitch training session of the tour. Players completed a stretching session and a walk near the hotel on Monday evening to recover from the flight.
Midfielders Federico Chiesa, Curtis Jones and Dominik Szoboszlai were spotted playing card games during the flight with younger squad members including Luke Chambers, Bailey Hall and Will Wright.
Szoboszlai drew attention off the pitch after sharing an impromptu elevator encounter with a Liverpool-supporting family staying at the team hotel on Monday evening. The Hungarian midfielder agreed to photographs with the group. "It's my lucky day," said the mother, who was also celebrating her birthday.
A local supporter recognised the squad during an evening walk near the hotel, while a second fan spotted Curtis Jones on a Tuesday morning walk towards Lake Michigan. "Curtis Jones, what the hell!" the supporter exclaimed, drawing laughter from Jones and his teammates.
Liverpool are scheduled to play three games during the USA pre-season tour.
