South Korea advanced to the quarter-finals of the 2026 Asian Games football tournament with a 2-0 win over Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, with Tottenham loanee Yang Min-Hyeok making his first start of the competition.

Yang, currently on loan at Belgian club KVC Westerlo for the season, played the opening 54 minutes of the match at the Mizuho Rugby field in Nagoya, Japan.

The result gave South Korea a perfect group-stage record in Group D. They had opened with a 4-1 victory over Qatar the previous Tuesday, in which Yang came off the bench for 18 minutes.

The winger and his teammates will now face Vietnam in the quarter-finals on Friday.

The Asian Games football tournament is held every four years. South Korea won gold at the 2018 edition, with Heung-Min Son among those who helped secure the title.
