Tottenham defenders Micky van de Ven and Ben Davies ended the autumn international break on opposite ends of the result sheet on Sunday.
Van de Ven started his 28th cap as the Netherlands beat Serbia 2-1 at home in UEFA Nations League Group A2, keeping their unbeaten record intact with two wins and two draws. Teun Koopmeiners put the Dutch ahead on 31 minutes before Mihajlo Cvetkovic equalised four minutes later, with Joshua Zirkzee settling the contest with 15 minutes to play.
The Tottenham centre-back was forced off in the 90th minute after appearing to injure his hand while challenging Luka Jovic inside the box, leaving the Netherlands to see out the final moments with 10 men after exhausting their substitutions.
Davies captained Wales on his 104th cap but suffered a 1-0 defeat to Denmark in Cardiff in Group A4. Goalkeeper Danny Ward made two close-range saves before conceding a penalty that Rasmus Hojlund converted in the 75th minute. Davies was replaced by Kieffer Moore in the 83rd minute as Wales pushed for a late equaliser, but Craig Bellamy's side could not find one.
In League B Group B3, Kevin Danso — on loan at Sunderland — played the full 90 minutes on his 39th cap as Austria drew 1-1 in Kosovo to extend their own unbeaten start.
Omar Marmoush also played the full game on his 58th cap, but Egypt were beaten 1-0 by South Africa in a home friendly in Cairo to close out his international break.
