Tottenham have agreed a deal to sell Ashley Phillips to Middlesbrough, the club confirmed on Friday. The 21-year-old centre-back joined Spurs from Blackburn Rovers in August 2023.
Phillips never made a senior appearance for Tottenham, sitting on the bench eight times during 2023/24 without stepping onto the pitch. He spent the second half of that campaign on loan at Championship club Plymouth Argyle, making 20 appearances.
The defender then joined Stoke City on loan for the full 2024/25 season, racking up 39 appearances, 35 of them in the Championship. He returned to Stoke for a second loan spell in 2025/26, this time making 44 appearances — 40 in the Championship — a run of form that earned him a nomination for the Championship's Young Player of the Season award.
Phillips represented England at Under-21 level during his time at the club. Tottenham offered no further details on the transfer fee.
