Mathys Tel scored a hat-trick for France Under-21s as Tottenham's internationals rounded off a historic three-week autumn break — the first of its kind.

The 21-year-old forward struck his sixth, seventh, and eighth goals of France's U21 EURO qualifying campaign in a 7-1 demolition of Switzerland, his second career treble at international level.

Tel opened the scoring ten minutes in, added a second before half-time by lofting the ball over goalkeeper Silas Huber inside the penalty area, then curled his third past Huber from just outside the 18-yard box in the 59th minute. He captained Les Bleuets in Orleans for the fixture. France had already secured their place at next summer's tournament in Albania and Serbia the previous weekend.

Archie Gray's England Under-21s, who had also booked their spot in the June European Championship last weekend, ended their qualifying campaign with a 3-1 defeat to the Republic of Ireland in Cork.

Rodrigo Bentancur and Uruguay finished on a high, beating India 6-1 in a friendly in Kolkata. Darwin Nunez opened the scoring from the spot after 11 minutes, but the match was briefly suspended due to adverse weather conditions after India equalised through Anirudh Thapa. Maxi Araujo scored twice after the resumption, with Rodrigo Zalazar, Juan Sanabria, and Rodrigo Aguirre also getting on the scoresheet.

Andy Robertson's Scotland fell to a 2-1 UEFA Nations League defeat to Slovenia at Hampden Park. Ryan Christie gave Scotland the lead after 31 minutes, but second-half goals from Aljosa Matko and Danijel Sturm secured a comeback win for the visitors. Before kick-off, Robertson was presented with a framed shirt to mark his 100th cap, earned against North Macedonia last Saturday. The left back is now one appearance away from equalling Kenny Dalglish's all-time Scotland record of 102 caps, set in 1986.

Martin Dubravka was an unused substitute as Slovakia won 4-0 in Moldova in Nations League C. At Wembley, Antonin Kinsky was also an unused substitute as Czechia lost to England in Nations League A — Harry Kane scored twice in a 3-0 win, equalling Peter Shilton's record of 125 England caps, which has stood since 1990.

Heung-Min Son became South Korea's all-time top goalscorer, netting for the 59th time for his country in a 2-0 friendly win over Uzbekistan.
