Scotland captain Andy Robertson earned his 99th international cap on Tuesday as Scotland were beaten 3-0 by Switzerland in a UEFA Nations League B Group 1 fixture at Hampden Park, leaving him one appearance short of a century.

Robertson, now also three caps away from equalling Kenny Dalglish's all-time Scotland record of 102, played 74 minutes before being replaced by Josh Doig in the second half.

Scotland's task was made significantly harder when defender Jack Hendry was shown a red card after ten minutes. A VAR review converted an initial penalty — and yellow card — into a free kick and a straight red after the foul on Dan Ndoye was deemed to have occurred just outside the box. Ricardo Rodriguez then curled the resulting free kick past Angus Gunn to open the scoring. Second-half goals from Nico Elvedi and Zeki Amdouni completed the Swiss victory, leaving Scotland third in Group 1 with one point from two games under new head coach Sebastien Pocognoli.

Elsewhere, goalkeeper Martin Dubravka made his first start for Slovakia since their World Cup play-off semi-final defeat to Kosovo in March, earning his 61st cap as Slovakia beat Kazakhstan in Kosice. Leo Sauer put Slovakia ahead after 26 minutes, but Ramizan Karimov equalised nine minutes later. David Hancko headed in an Ondrej Duda cross in the 82nd minute to seal a 2-1 win, giving Slovakia two wins from two in Nations League C Group 3 and a four-point gap over second-placed Faroe Islands.

Antonin Kinsky was an unused substitute as Czechia hosted England in Prague, with the Three Lions winning 2-0 through second-half strikes from Anthony Gordon and Harry Kane.

Robertson will aim to win his 100th cap when Scotland face North Macedonia on Saturday, 3 October. Dubravka and Slovakia next play the Faroe Islands on Friday, 2 October, while Kinsky's Czechia travel to Oviedo to face World Champions Spain on Saturday, 3 October.
