Kalvin Phillips has returned to Sheffield United on a season-long loan from Manchester City, the club confirmed on 11 August 2026. The 30-year-old midfielder spent the second half of last season at Bramall Lane before a knee injury cut his stint short.
Phillips initially joined the Blades in February 2026 but managed only three appearances before the injury ended his campaign prematurely. He has now signed a new loan agreement covering the 2026/27 season.
The defensive midfielder built his reputation at Leeds United over eight seasons before moving to Manchester City in the summer of 2022. He made 21 appearances for City in his debut campaign as the club won the Treble.
Phillips went on to loan spells at West Ham United in January 2024 and newly-promoted Ipswich Town for the 2024/25 season. He also came off the bench in City's 2-0 League Cup third-round win at Huddersfield Town before his first spell with Sheffield United began.
In total, Phillips has made 32 appearances for Manchester City and scored one goal — against Red Star Belgrade in the 2023/24 Champions League campaign.
