Everton manager David Moyes has confirmed that Vitalii Mykolenko "has got a chance" of featuring against Hull City on Sunday, while summer signing Christian Nørgaard is edging closer to a return after completing his first minutes in an Everton shirt.
Mykolenko picked up a minor problem on international duty with Ukraine, but Moyes indicated the extra day before the trip to east Yorkshire could work in his favour. The Blues are looking to extend their unbeaten start to the Premier League season, having beaten Ipswich Town 1-0 nearly three weeks ago.
Nørgaard featured in a 3-3 behind-closed-doors friendly against Blackburn Rovers, his first action since joining the club. Moyes was cautious about rushing the Danish midfielder back but acknowledged squad depth could force his hand.
"He's making progress. I don't know if he's quite ready yet to be involved, but with our numbers being so short, it might be something I have to look at," Moyes said at Friday's pre-match press conference at Finch Farm. "If I had my way, I would certainly give him a good bit more time, if I could."
Moyes also noted that England-based players returned to training only on Friday. "We've just got the England players back today for the first time, so hopefully they'll all be fit and ready to go," he added.
For Hull City, manager Sergej Jakirović is expected to be without Eliot Matazo, Jack Butland, Darko Gyabi, Ilyas Ansah and Charlie Hughes. However, Brooke Norton-Cuffy, Hidemasa Morita, Nobel Mendy, Matt Targett and Elliot Stroud could all return from their respective absences.
