Omar Marmoush has expressed confidence that Tottenham's new-look squad is close to clicking, despite a difficult start to the season that included a Carabao Cup exit at Anfield on Tuesday.

The Egyptian forward, on loan from Manchester City, was among 10 new arrivals at Hotspur Way over the summer as the club undertook a major rebuild following a difficult previous campaign.

"Every game we create more and more chances — I'm sure we are very close," Marmoush told SPURSPLAY after the defeat to Liverpool. "If we keep trying... as everyone can see, we reach the goal so many times. We have so much quality on the pitch and from the people that come off the bench to give us this last push. When these small details click, it will be very, very good."

Marmoush acknowledged that heavy squad turnover naturally requires time to gel, but pointed to improving performances as evidence progress is being made.

"These moments build the mentality and join the team together. We're all one big family, and we push all together. These small glimpses of success give us another push and we have to build this confidence within us," he said.

The forward also singled out Tottenham's travelling support for praise. "I have to say our fans were unbelievable at Anfield. We've had their support since the very beginning and that's important. All of us in the Club, the staff, the fans, the coaching staff, everyone around us, we have to support each other in order to reach our goal because that's the only way you can reach it."

Tottenham's next fixture is the home visit of Aston Villa on Saturday at 12noon UK time.
