Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca has warned his side will require a flawless performance to defeat Paris Saint-Germain in their UEFA Champions League home opener at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday.
"The message for tomorrow night is quite easy. We need the perfect game because they are the best team in Europe in this moment," Maresca said at Tuesday's pre-match press conference.
PSG arrive as back-to-back Champions League holders, having defeated Inter Milan and Arsenal to claim the trophy in both 2025 and 2026. Maresca acknowledged the scale of the challenge while stopping short of measuring his side directly against the French club.
"I know how good they are - in the last two years they won the last two Champions League, that shows how good they are. I am not sure how close or far we are but, for sure, we are a good team," the City boss added.
City head into the match having won all eight games across all competitions this season, including a 3-0 Premier League victory at Liverpool last Sunday and a 2-0 win away at FC Porto in their Champions League opener.
Despite the perfect record, Maresca insisted there remains significant room for improvement. "We need to improve many things for sure - the way we try to attack and defend, no doubt we need to improve," he said.
Kick-off at the Etihad Stadium is scheduled for 20:00 UK time on Wednesday.
