Maresca nominated for Premier League Manager of Month

Enzo Maresca has been nominated for the Premier League Manager of the Month award for September, after guiding Manchester City to a perfect five wins from five to start the 2026/27 season.

City entered the September international break top of the Premier League, the only club in the top flight to have won all five of their opening matches. Maresca became only the sixth manager to win his first five league games in charge of a side.

City's September included a hard-fought 1-0 home win over Coventry City, followed by a 1-0 derby victory at Manchester United — achieved despite being reduced to ten men following an early red card for Phil Foden. The month closed with a 5-3 league win at home to Sunderland.

Across all competitions in September, City scored 14 goals — an average of nearly three per game. The club also beat FC Porto 2-0 in their UEFA Champions League opener and defeated Norwich 5-0 in the opening round of their Carabao Cup defence.

Maresca faces fellow nominees Fabian Hurzeler of Brighton and Hove Albion and Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola. Voting closes at 12:00 (UK) on Monday 28 September, with the winner to be announced on Friday 2 October at 12:00 (UK).
