Former Manchester City players gathered for a padel tournament organised by the club's Once a Blue initiative, which aims to keep retired professionals connected and active.
The event took place at Pure Padel Stockport and drew a number of ex-Blues, including Ian and David Brightwell, Gary Jackson, Michael Brown, and Gary Owen.
Michael Brown claimed the runners-up trophy, finishing second to tournament winner Joe Eaton. Brown, described as a passionate padel fan, drew praise for his skill, athleticism, and enthusiasm on the court.
Former City captain Paul Lake highlighted the purpose behind the programme. "Once a Blue's Thrive programme aims to encourage our ex-pros to keep fit and healthy, and padel certainly fits the bill. It's also a great way to get the guys together and to keep those competitive fires burning," Lake said.
The Stockport event was described as the inaugural padel gathering organised by Once a Blue, which runs regular activities to foster community among former City players since their retirement from professional football.
