Manchester City defeated Sunderland 5-3 at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, with Antoine Semenyo scoring twice to move City three points clear at the top of the Premier League.
Enzo Fernández opened the scoring after just nine minutes with a free-kick from a tight angle, but Brian Brobbey levelled three minutes later, finishing Enzo Le Fée's through ball into the bottom corner.
Rayan Cherki restored City's lead shortly before the half-hour mark, only for Brobbey to equalise again with a tap-in from Thomas Meunier's pass. Semenyo then struck to make it 3-2 at the break, with Erling Haaland going narrowly wide from Iliman Ndiaye's pass in the final act of a chaotic first half.
Semenyo added his second on 57 minutes, arrowing a fierce strike into the corner to make it 4-2. Brobbey completed his hat-trick two minutes later with a close-range finish to cut the deficit to one.
Sunderland came close to levelling when Dan Ballard's header looped goalbound off Rúben Dias, but the Portuguese defender acrobatically cleared off the line. Haaland secured the three points with just under 10 minutes remaining, sliding in from Josko Gvardiol's cross for his first career goal against Sunderland.
The result gives City five wins from five in the Premier League this season.
