Manchester City thrashed Norwich City 5-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday to advance into the fourth round of the Carabao Cup, where they will host Brighton and Hove Albion.
Manager Enzo Maresca handed debuts to summer signings Allan and goalkeeper Gerónimo Rulli, as well as 17-year-old Floyd Samba, and two of those debutants combined to open the scoring just after the half-hour mark.
Nico O'Reilly's deep cross reached Allan at the back post, and the winger laid the ball off for Samba, who headed into the bottom left corner. Three minutes later, Samba set up the second, knocking the ball into Ayyoub Bouaddi's path before Bouaddi slid Rayan Cherki through on goal and the Frenchman slotted into the corner.
Allan switched to the left flank after the interval and quickly made his mark, driving into the far corner for his first goal for the club. Samba then added his second of the evening on 54 minutes, receiving from Rayan Aït-Nouri before curling into the bottom right corner.
Ryan McAidoo completed the scoring with a late fifth to seal a comfortable victory and City's place in the next round.
