Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola has called on his side to back up their opening Champions League victory with a win away at Austrian champions LASK on Wednesday.

The Reds beat Atletico Madrid 2-1 at Anfield last month to open their league-phase campaign. Iraola is eager to keep that momentum going on the road.

"Champions League away games are always tough, we know this," Iraola said ahead of the 5.45pm BST kick-off. "It's a team that in their competition, they won the competition. They are normally dominant, they spend a lot of time on the ball."

Iraola pointed to LASK's home record in Europe as a warning sign. "We have this season the precedent of Celtic losing here 5-1 in extra-time. We have to respect them. Obviously we want to come here and win."

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged his side enter the tie as favourites but stressed that status counts for little without a performance. "I assume that probably we are the favourites but you have to come here, do the job and play well, because otherwise away games in the Champions League are never easy."

Iraola also underlined the cost of dropping points early in the competition. "Winning in this competition is very expensive. We want to take the points that we need early, because otherwise you put yourself in trouble."

Liverpool currently sit ninth in the Champions League standings with three points from their opening match.
