Jorrel Hato made his first appearance of the October international window as the Netherlands defeated Serbia 2-1 in the UEFA Nations League on Sunday.
Hato was introduced by coach Xavi at the hour mark in Eindhoven, entering a game tied at 1-1. Teun Koopmeiners had opened the scoring after 31 minutes before Mihajlo Cvetkovic equalised for Serbia.
Shortly after Hato came on, Joshua Zirkzee struck the winner. The Chelsea defender completed all 21 passes he attempted during his time on the pitch. The victory moved the Netherlands to the top of their Nations League group as they push for a place in the knockout rounds. Their remaining two fixtures are against Greece and Germany in November.
Elsewhere, Chelsea winger Pedro Neto was an unused substitute as Portugal beat Norway 2-1 to record four wins from four in this Nations League window. Portugal will secure a quarter-final berth by avoiding defeat against Denmark — who defeated Wales on Sunday — in their next fixture.
Earlier on Sunday, Reggie Watson converted a penalty for England Under-17s, but they fell 3-2 to Germany in the final game of their window.
