Cody Gakpo scored a stoppage-time equaliser on Thursday to earn the Netherlands a 1-1 draw against Germany, denying Jürgen Klopp a winning start as the German national team's head coach.
Gakpo struck with a volley in the 91st minute of the UEFA Nations League clash in Amsterdam, cancelling out Germany's lead. It was Klopp's first match in charge of Germany since leaving Liverpool.
Three Liverpool players — Gakpo, Ryan Gravenberch and Virgil van Dijk — all started and completed the match. Van Dijk had an early headed goal ruled out for offside, while Jeremie Frimpong remained an unused substitute for the Netherlands.
Florian Wirtz did not feature in the fixture and is expected to join the Germany squad for their final two games of the international break.
Also in Nations League League A, Group 2, Liverpool left-back Kostas Tsimikas provided an assist for Greece's 95th-minute winner in a 2-1 comeback victory over Serbia in Belgrade.
Elsewhere, Lewis Koumas started Wales' 1-0 defeat away to Portugal in the Nations League, while Ronald Araujo played just under 70 minutes of Uruguay's 3-1 friendly loss to Japan. Academy midfielder Erik Farkas featured for England U18s in a 3-2 win against Colombia.
