Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembele has described Gianluigi Donnarumma as the best goalkeeper in the world ahead of Wednesday's Champions League clash with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
Donnarumma joined City from PSG last summer after the French club won their first Champions League title the previous season. The Italian will now face his former employers in the League Phase.
"I've got a really excellent relationship and memory of him. He's the number one in the world. Exceptional goalkeeper," Dembele said at Tuesday's press conference. "He can change an entire team with his saves."
The 2025 Ballon d'Or winner also revealed the pair remain close off the pitch. "I wasn't able to attend his wedding in the summer but we exchanged messages. He's a great friend and great goalkeeper," he added.
Dembele also recalled a recent personal reminder of Donnarumma's quality. "I missed a chance against him when we played against Italy in the international break and he made fun of me a little bit. He's a wonderful goalkeeper and he showed that even before he came to PSG."
PSG arrive at the Etihad sitting sixth in Ligue 1 after six games, but Dembele insisted his side are prepared for the challenge. "It's a big game obviously. Very good team, very good coach. It won't be easy but we'll be well prepared for the game," he said.
"We'll try to take all three points home. It's not decisive but it's one we want to win. Manchester City are one of the top teams and they've got off to a flying start in the Premier League and Champions League."
City head into the fixture with a perfect Premier League record, winning all six of their opening matches this season.
